Welcome to Budget King — your personal finance companion designed to help you track every rupee with precision and confidence. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Android application.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with complete transparency and care. By using Budget King, you agree to the practices described in this policy. We encourage you to read this document thoroughly.

If you do not agree with the terms stated here, please discontinue use of the application and contact us with any concerns.

We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide you with the best budgeting experience. We never sell your personal data to third parties.

Information We Collect

When you use Budget King, we collect the following categories of data to enable core app functionality. All financial data is entered by you — we never access your bank accounts or payment systems.

Email Address Collected via Google Sign-In for authentication
User Profile Name and photo URL from your Google account
Expenses Amount, category, date, and notes you enter
Budgets Budget limits and categories you configure
Shops Merchant and store names linked to expenses
Transactions Full transaction history you record in the app
ℹ️  All financial data is data you explicitly enter into the app. We do not access your bank accounts, UPI transactions, or payment systems.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes and nothing beyond:

  • Authenticate your identity via Google Sign-In and maintain your session securely
  • Store and sync your financial data (expenses, budgets, transactions) across your devices
  • Display personalised budget summaries, spending insights, and financial reports
  • Enable you to manage shops, categories, and recurring transactions
  • Send you budget alerts and notifications you configure within the app
  • Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features based on usage patterns
  • Ensure the security and integrity of your account and our services

Data Storage

Your data is securely stored using Supabase, an open-source cloud database platform built on PostgreSQL. Supabase servers are hosted on AWS infrastructure, which comply with industry-leading security and compliance standards including SOC 2 and GDPR.

  • Data is stored per-user and is logically isolated from other users' data
  • Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active
  • Upon account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days
  • We do not store sensitive payment card details or banking credentials
Data in transit is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security) and data at rest is encrypted using Supabase's built-in encryption with AES-256.

Data Sharing

We take your privacy seriously. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party. Your data may be shared only in these limited circumstances:

  • Supabase — as our infrastructure provider for database storage and authentication
  • Legal obligations — if required by law, court order, or government authority
  • Safety & security — to protect the rights, property, or safety of Budget King, its users, or the public
We never share your financial data with advertisers, marketers, data brokers, or any other commercial third parties.

Data Security

We implement robust technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration.

  • Authentication is handled exclusively via Google Sign-In OAuth 2.0 — we never store your Google password
  • Supabase Row-Level Security (RLS) ensures each user can only access their own data
  • All communications between the app and Supabase are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • We regularly review and update our security practices to stay ahead of emerging threats
  • App access is tied to your Google account — enabling Google's two-factor authentication provides an additional layer of protection
ℹ️  While we strive to use best-in-class security measures, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to keep your Google account credentials safe.

Account Deletion

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. Budget King provides a straightforward account deletion process:

  • Open the Budget King app and tap on your Profile icon
  • Navigate to Security and tap on Delete My Account
  • Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field to verify your intent
  • Confirm your decision — this action is permanent and cannot be undone
  • All your data (profile, expenses, budgets, shops, and transactions) will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days
  • You may also request deletion by emailing us at the contact address below
Account deletion is irreversible. Please export or back up any financial records you wish to keep before proceeding with deletion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your data is protected through multiple layers of security: Google OAuth 2.0 authentication, Supabase Row-Level Security (RLS) for data isolation, TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit, and AES-256 encryption for data at rest. We never store your Google password, and all communications are encrypted end-to-end.

Yes. You can delete your account at any time by going to Profile → Security → Delete My Account, typing "DELETE" to confirm, and your data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. You can also email us to request deletion manually.

Absolutely. Budget King uses Google Sign-In with OAuth 2.0, the same industry-standard protocol used by leading fintech and enterprise applications. We never receive or store your Google password. Authentication is handled entirely by Google's secure infrastructure, and we only receive your email address, display name, and profile photo URL.
